Renee's Organic Oven

We enjoy eating out, and if you couldn't tell by our 'Sushi' post, we're going to snap pictures when we go out to eat and give you a little review of the restaurant. I was really stoked about my post on Gina's blog last night so we went to get some celebratory pizza.
Renee's Organic Oven is really neat local spot that serves food made from super fresh ingredients and caters to many dietary needs (gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, etc). Kyle is lactose intolerant but other than that we don't have any specific dietary restrictions. We did, however, decide to order the gluten-free pizza crust last night. I absolutely LOVED it, but Kyle thought the consistency was a little weird. He's a chef at a health resort so he knows that sometimes recipes with substitute ingredients compromise the textures we're familiar with.  Either way, we left with full and happy bellies.

Obligatory picture of us about to feast.

Our starter was house made tomato soup. Normally I wouldn't go for soup before pizza...but Renee's has some seriously tasty soups! We ordered the 10' everything pizza on gluten free crust for dinner.
It might just be a psychological thing, but knowing their ingredients are so fresh/organic makes the food taste that much better. Either way, I demolished my half and my entire bowl of soup haha.
The service at Renee's is top-notch. Their waitresses are super nice (sometimes it's a little scary) and though the price is in the mid range (we pay about $30 together) it's always worth every penny. That being said, we rate Renee's with a 4.5 out of 5. Their gluten-free crust isn't mind blowing (but then again, it's a challenge to blow someone's mind without doughy floury goodness) but the rest of their food is sensational.

I'm going to go eat my leftover slice of pizza because writing this post made. me. so. hungry.

  1. Sounds like such a fun night out! And now I'm having major hankerings for a really good pizza. Salt Lake has a surprising amount of really great places to grab pizza - if you're ever in town, my favorite pizza is at a tiny place called Eva - they braise eggplant and seasonal vegetables in a tomato sauce, with fresh creamy farmer's cheese, and top it off with a baked egg. It's so good!

    1. OMG yum! There's a great spot in Phoenix, too where you can get a fried egg on top of your pizza 0_o

  2. This sounds like such a great place! We are severely lacking this type of restaurant in our area. I've been lactose intolerant since I was a teenager, and it's hard enough getting restaurants to accommodate THAT, but this year I've also decided to go vegan and gluten free in an effort to be more healthy, so eating out has been next to impossible for me. I would eat ever meal at this place! :)

  3. Hi! I am Renee the owner of Renee's Organic Oven and I am so glad that I came across this blog! Thank you for stopping in and for sharing. Muah!! A word on that pizza crust we get that from Dad's Gluten Free the texture is different but it grows on you and many diner (including me) actually get it even though we don't have too. The crust is kinda a cross between a science project and a dream come true for those seeking allergen friendly foods...it is not only GF it is dairy free, egg free, nut free, corn free and soy free. Because we prepare our baked goods here everyday we can't prepare GF flours too. I love that you included us on your journey ~ Cheers to many great things along your way!

    1. Hello Renee! What a shocker to have you stumble upon our blog! I am SO glad you went into detail about the GF crust. I had NO idea it was free of so many other allergens! Kyle is lactose intolerant so the crust being dairy free makes it that much easier for him to eat. I think you've done a fantastic job creating wonderful food for your customers and you can count on seeing us again (often..haha). We <3 Renee's!
